Mu Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in Bolivar,
Tennessee by six phenomenal women on December 18, 1979. The charter members are:
Dr. Yvonne Griggs Allen, Barbara Bufford(deceased), Diane Griggs Jefferies, Helen
Johnson, Ocie Mae Johnson(deceased) and Martha Robertson Mu Zeta Zeta has blazed
new trails and will continue to promote the founding principles of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
Incorporated which are Finer Womanhood, Scholarship, Service and Sisterhood in our
efforts to provide numerous programs to the community. We strive to foster the
unbreakable bonds of sisterhood from within and provide service to Hardeman County
and surrounding Counties. The chapter actively participates in all national initiatives
such as Adopt-A School, Elderly Care, Prematurity Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness,
Heart Disease Awareness, March of Dimes, Domestic Violence Awareness, and etc. Mu
Zeta Zeta works to empower the community through our committed service. The
chapter provides breakfast for families and the staff of Jackson General Hospital as well
partner with local leaders in the county and the NAACP. Our current program offerings
embrace our national service program, Zetas Helping Other People Excel (Z-HOPE),
which focuses on improving the lives of others holistically- mind, body and spirit. We are
a community-conscious, action-oriented organization.
